TREC-STEP is a pioneering Organization, promoted in 1986, by the Central and State Governments of India, such as the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Government of Tamilnadu, along with National Financial institutions such as IDBI, IFCI, ICICI and other institutions, for spearheading the promotion of Science and Technology, Innovations and Knowledge based ventures, by nurturing the ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ among the aspiring youth of India and mentoring and hand holding them to realize their growth targets, through their Innovative Technology Ventures, in the globalized marketplace. TREC-STEP by virtue of being one of the first Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park’s in the country, also has the broad mandate of bringing the benefits of Science and Technology within easy access of individuals from different strata of society, for which TREC-STEP undertakes several, focused developmental initiatives with the support of National and International Developmental Agencies.

TREC-STEP, Trichy, is strategically located , equidistant from the major metros of Chennai and Bangalore, right on the National Highway, between the Public Sector giant, BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd) and the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli and adjacent to a busy Industrial estate, housing a world renowned SME Cluster, with over 450 fabrication industries. This unique industrial flavour amidst academic ambience, offers many strategic advantages to the Incubator and Incubatee alike, and provide for a right mix of offerings for the promotion and growth of knowledge-based ventures.

TREC-STEP’s comprehensive package of Incubation support for the promotion of new, innovative industries, includes innovative funding mechanisms such as the ‘idea to prototype’ innovation fund, early stage seeding through the incubation fund, subsidized central production facilities and nursery sheds, mentoring and handholding and many other need based supports, for young entrepreneurs to launch and grow their industries successfully.
